I live this every day. And in a male dominated industry. Where we should be lifting each other up, we pull each other down. Trying to stop this is like throwing a stick in the spokes of a moving bicycle. I won’t give up though no matter how crazy they think I am 💪🏼

Sadly, we are trying to beat the patriarchy with patriarchal minds and actions.

Time to confront this in ourselves. We are just continuing to oppress

ourselves in the name of freedom!!

As my therapist once said to me with no equivocation, “This has got to stop!”

Yes, and how insulting to the reader. Allow me to decide who I’ll follow. Stand in your creativity and do your art. I will embrace who/what moves me. It’s called freedom.

Another Amen to that!!! When one rises we all rise...how sad to see her go. I wish she could have stayed for all of us and I also understand why she left.

All of this & more - all the Glennon hate was SOOO painful because it’s just proof of all the wrong winning - I’d see the same exact thing play out over and over again among colleagues in early education (97% women )

"Keep you chasing the platform that pays them—instead of making the work that feeds you." Omggggg this hit hard. Thank you. I'm saving this quote!!

Hard agree on all counts. There's room for all of us at the top, and we can rise together -- enough with the scarcity mindset. So many women attacking a woman for joining Substack or joining Substack in the "wrong" way. It's appalling.

I could write for days on this topic, but I will simply and succinctly say, I am ashamed for all women. I am appalled at the junior-high school antics of grown women, creative and intelligent women. This is why we cannot move forward as the F'ing force we are, both individually AND collectively!!!! Be better. Do better.

I hate it when something happens, and I can't get a handle on my own complicated feelings about it. I'm triggered, but not in the way others are, but when I try to articulate what tickled my pickle about it, I can't. The words just won't come. Rarely do I want to borrow others words for my own processing, but you've done such a marvelous job of it here that I humbly request to steal a few (with attribution, of course). Thank you for the reminder that there IS a problem here, it's just that its the subject, not the object of our animosity. Can't wait to follow your podcast as I'd love to be one of the (hopefully) many who join together to support a collective conversation about what the problems actually are, and maybe, just maybe, how we can build a community that drives permanent change.

I'd love to steal the "tickled my pickle". The rest of your reply is great too, but those three little words are so cute. MAY I?

Steal away! It’s an Old Southernism started long before anyone cared about attribution. 🤣

Thank you very much. I love it. I'll definitely use it.

I adore any quirky little phrase.

We all need to question ourselves as the conditioning has been deep. We can only do better when we see it and take responsibility how we move forward. This is what the pod will be about and some fun!!

This has been SO blown out of proportion. You really should go back and review the threads. The blowback was all about her being hugely promoted by another Substacker, and had nothing to do with Doyle herself. Honestly, what a brilliant example of how these things get twisted. And now the grand finale - shaming all women for something that didn't actually happen. Too funny.

Having only been on substack weeks, this did not fufill me with good vibes to see the drama and hate, especially when so many people professed how Substack was a revered platform of fluff. (The irony). I did however clean out every single person in my feed that was complaining and now I’ve got a feed that’s great 💗
