I know it feels hopeless sometimes, and the feature film numbers for women are certainly horrible this year. But something else really big is happening for women right now in streaming. This year 32% of directors working on streaming programs were women, up from 23% in 2023-2024. I know that's not where it needs to be, but there is some positive momentum on the streaming side. And this is affecting hiring practices too: on shows with at least one female creator, women constituted 42% of directors, 62% of writers and 32% of editors.
