Celery Juice, Raving..... and the Collapse of the Free World
even your ashwagandha smoothie won't save you.
Let’s just call it: we’re living through a collapse.
A collapse of a world we once knew—or thought we knew.
Included in that collapse is people, places, and things. Up is down, down is up.
Empathy is villainized and US citizens are being kidnapped.
So can we all agree to please stop peddling nonsense—at least for right now?
I promise there is no amount of “self care,” “morning routine,” beet juice with ashwaganda, vibration plate, detox smoothie, or sleep regime that is going to help the type of insanity we are currently living through.
It’s the capitalism masked as “wellness” that truly blows my mind.
Now, instead of selling us the “girl boss” bullshit to just work harder, it’s become whispers of soothing affirmations to “take back” yourself.
And you too can “take that back” if you type TAKE BACK in the comments and I’ll send you my course on how to do that for only $24.99.
I promise you—that course will not make the relentless, existential, creeping panic go away. Nor will it do ANYTHING else it promises.
Because whether you admit it or not, get involved or not, say you're “political” or not—it’s seeping in.
Somewhere deep inside, you know what’s happening. And its core shaking.
That is of course if you have one.
With AI creeping toward the jobs we worked our entire lives to master, the planet suffering violently, and last but not at all least fascism not being some abstract historical concept anymore, but up close and very personal—it’s all clawing its way in. Bold and blatant.
I mean—I get it. It’s all a LOT. However, you cannot outrun it. So what do we do?
First, you must realize: This moment we’re in is not something you can meditate away, drink a bottle of wine instead (although it helps some days) or journal by candlelight to make this end.
As you know this very system was built and thrives on your self-doubt and exhaustion. It’s purpose is to keep you in a state of unease, self-loathing, fear,
and vigilance. Because fear sells. Hopelessness sells. Shame—SELLS.
Capitalism, at its core, thrives on convincing you that YOU are the problem—
that if you could just fix yourself, everything would be fine.
But here’s the truth: There is no individual fix for this.
This is a cultural, mass awakening. A global one.
This collapse we’re moving through will not be healed by a better, more superficial you. If there was ever a time to go deeper—
THIS IS IT.
This time requires ALL OF US to wake the fuck up!
It requires something we’ve been taught to forget- your responsibility in this world as a HUMAN-BE-ing.
We MUST show up for one another and this world we share. Show up with
empathy, kindness, spirit of better, and a rebellion to be as we were born to be—FREE. ALL OF US!
So no—it’s not your diet, your age, your extra pounds, or your wrinkles right now. It’s about your soul, your courage, and your compassion.
We were never meant to live in this kind of insanity.
I implore all reading this to do SOMETHING to expel all the pain, rage, fear, and sadness you’re feeling. You must move it out of the body.
So what do I do?
I put it all into art. As I teach in my classes, A Rebel Collective
we get out of the mind and into the body to uncover your true voice.
But recently, that hasn’t even been enough. I deeply needed to do something more.
So…I went to a RAVE. Yes, a proper rave. And I danced. I danced for 3 hours with hundreds of others just escaping through the music. None of the eclectic mix of artists, misfits, loners, old and young had their phones out recording the moment. They were just IN IT.
Present. Alive. And lost in some joy—for at least out time together that night.
When I woke up the next day ( in pain from the endless jumping) the world had not changed. But I did. I was able to take a deep breath and continue onward to make this world the place I KNOW it can be. Finding those moments of joy on a dance floor with strangers made me remember what they try so hard to make you forget- that we are ALL the same. And it was exactly what I needed to keep going.
Joy is the most REBELLIOUS act you can have in these times. FIND IT. FEEL IT. MOVE THROUGH IT. And then BEGIN AGAIN!
YOU, not the polished version you created, but the human you—is needed now more than ever.
And no amount of celery juice is going to change that.
For some upcoming joy and more of this conversation I hope you listen to my new podcast REBELLIOUS, Art, Culture, Human with my co-host, Cat Yezbak.
We will be breaking down how culture dictates you as an artists and as a human. We also have a lot of fun.
REBELLIOUS, Art, Culture, Human out next week!
This is definitely epic; It’s all about the art of moral courage, compassion, empathy, meaning, purpose, and conviction! Much appreciated, much deserved, and much needed, Ms. Esposito! ☺️😊😀
When in doubt? Rave it out.
